Dispatching centres in Nova Scotia

The following agencies or organizations provide dispatching services in the province of Nova Scotia.

Miscellaneous Government

Halifax Regional Integrated Emergency Services ("Regional Dispatch")

Located in the Woodside Industrial Park, HRM IES (identifies on the air as "regional dispatch") dispatches the following agencies:

• Halifax Regional Police (and the RCMP Halifax detachment which operates within HRM)
• Halifax County (NS) Regional Fire and Emergency
• The Enfield and Mount Uniacke volunteer fire departments in Hants county
• The Canadian Coast Guard cutter "Sambro" (paging only)

Shubie Radio

Shubie Radio is operated by the provincial Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and acts as the provincial dispatching centre. The dispatch centre is located in Shubenacadie, Hants county, and dispatches the following agencies:

• DNR wildlife conservation officers
• DNR provincial park staff
• DNR fire control
• Department of Justice (corrections, prisoner transport, sheriffs)
• Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal vehicle compliance officers and motor carrier inspectors

As well, Shubie Radio is responsible for coordination of some Emergency Management Office (EMO) and Ground Search and Rescue operations, coordinating use of the mutual aid talkgroups on the provincial Maritime Public Safety Radio Network (MPSRN), dispatching some volunteer fire departments in Guysborough, Pictou, and Victoria counties, and coordinating other radio-related activities on behalf of the province's Public Safety and Field Communications office.

EHS Medical Communications Centre ("EHS Comms" or "Ambulance Dispatch")

The EHS medical communications centre is the provincial dispatch centre for EHS ground operations (ambulance service) as well as the Air Medical Transport service (EHS LifeFlight). The centre is located in Dartmouth.

Stellarton Police

Also dispatches various fire stations in Pictou county.

RCMP Operational Communications Centre (OCC)

The RCMP Operational Communications Centre (OCC) is responsible for dispatching the RCMP in all counties except Halifax county, which is dispatched by HRM IES (see above). The RCMP OCC is located in Dartmouth, Halifax county. The RCMP Operational Communications Centre is contacted by their callsign VFX-355, or "355" over the radio by RCMP members.

Fire only

Valley Communications ("Valley Dispatch")

Dispatches various stations in Annapolis, Kings, Hants, Colchester, Cumberland, Queens, Lunenburg, Shelburne, and Pictou counties.

Scotia Business Centre

Dispatches stations in Lunenburg, and Shelburne counties.

Strait Area Mutual Aid Association ("Canso Dispatch")

Identifies as "Canso dispatch". Dispatches various stations in Antigonish, Guysborough and Inverness counties.

Digby Dispatch

Located at the Digby airport. Dispatches various stations in Digby, Annapolis, and Yarmouth counties.

Yarmouth Control

No longer exists, but at time of closing, had Dispatched various stations in Yarmouth and Shelburne counties.

Canso Dispatch

Dispatches various stations in Antigonish, Inverness and Guysborough counties.
