I bought this scanner just before Christmas. I'm new to the whole scanning/trunking and such, but i must say this scanner isnt too shabby. Its cheaper than some scanners that do somewhat of the same things (to my understanding). Anyway, the scanner has nice step by step instructions to programming frequencies. Nice display, comes with the telescoping antenna and the covert antenna. The front display is easy to read, all the buttons light up, with the exception of a few like the L/O one. Nothing like driving and catching a stupid talkgroup and trying to find the L/O button. I've mounted this in my vehicle, and even if its sitting on the seat, its nice crisp and loud. The only downside the the programming (sometimes) Uniden has their software for $39 or something. The demo software only lets you program 1 bank out of 5. Needless to say I bought the full software, and its made programming 10 times easier. All in all this is a good trunking scanner in my opinion. Does what I need it to do so i'm happy!

Have about 8 scanners at this point, needed a second TrunkTracker small enough to fit in my Jeep which is loaded with commecial and Ham gear. This was about the only choice. I was put off by the preprogrammed stuff but since I was looking for just two channels to trunk two EDACS systems I decided it was no big deal. What a surprise. This radio has great sensitivity, selectivity and audio. Even the darn preprogrammed stuff for Massachusetts works great. This is a teriffic Trunk scanner and is up there with my 780xlt just a smaller case.

Look hard, might find one at $160.00 USD great value.

Great scanner for the price. This is my second scanner which I up graded from a BC0xlt-1 hand held. The BCT-8 has a lot of features and has many preprogrammed frequencies. The display is easy to read and it is easy to program in frequencies of your own interest. Nice scanner and I hope to use it for a long time.

This is a very nice trunk scanner minus the WFM. Very easy to understand the book and program. However if you need to do a complete reset of this scanner don't look in the manual or search the internet cause you won't find it. I'll save you the time of calling Uniden...complete reset is, turn scanner off, press and hold the 2, 9 and HWY(STATE) buttons then turn the scanner back on. Scanner should be all clear and reset.

I just bought my BCT-8 at the Miami Hamfest on February 7th. Since I haven't had it too long, it may be too early to tell much about it but you know what they say about first impressions: I like it!! It seems to work quite well with very few birdies!!

This programs in my humble opinion deserves a 10 - but having never had any program of a ten as a base point it get's a nine. A great program, ease of use and functional.

I believe this software would work with any Trunking radio, as long as you have VB 6.0 or higher installed in Windows.

An excellent utility leaving only the imagination of the user on how one can exploit its many uses. Rated a nine as v2.9.0 is supposedly the last version to support the BC245xlt - hopefully support will be restored and it'll get 10 stars.

You all did a good job. Alot of these guys & gals expect too much when it comes to software and instructions. If I can muddle around with it and get the hang of it then any of these prissy prisses should be able to also. And I am by far the smartest guy on the planet. Thanks for the use of the software. - Mike (Springtown TX)

Clean and simple makes it very effective. I would give it a 10, if it would update the ID ALPHA tags on the scanner itself.

Excellent for capturing audio for those unknown channels/talk groups. Documentation could be better.

Wish it had help built-in, but for the price, who's complaining? Excellent program that does what it's supposed to with no muss, no fuss. Packs a lot of features and works well with Windows XP. Great resource for those of us who own TrunkTrackers.

I could never get this working even though all of my other trunking programs worked. Dose NOT work for Pro-1053. Download did not say you had to have the certen scanners listed in the notes.
