Thunderbirds 2008

Welcome to the Thunderbirds 2008 article. This article will be used as a central collection point to accumulate logs from folks who hear traffic from the Thunderbirds during airshows. Please do not post links to other sites with frequencies here, as they are frequently outdated.

The schedule of performances can be found here.

Frequencies commonly heard for the Thunderbirds can be found on the Monitoring the Air Show Experience article by Larry Van Horn of MT (note: This file is PDF. You will need Adobe Acrobat to read it). Be sure to check the following for other updates:

  • MT Milcom Monitoring Post
  • Other milcom related mailing lists, Some of which are listed here
  • NOTE: New frequencies - not on the 2007 or 2008 MT articles - have recently been identified. Please see this article for more information

In addition frequencies used on a particular airfield should be researched on the database, or on the popular AirNav website. For units that are arriving or leaving the area, be sure to check the frequencies for your local ARTCC center.

In order to keep a consistent format, please use the following as a template:

  • Name of the show (give the date(s))
  • Your location (city/state, only needed if you are physically not at the show and monitoring from a remote location. If you are using an online scanner, put that here as well)
  • Frequency (include mode if not AM. If this frequency is used by the Blues during the show, and is not on the MT article, please mark it NEW)
  • Usage (include any designators, such as Victor 1, if you hear this. If the designator is also not on the MT article, please mark it NEW)

Repeat the last 2 lines as many times as necessary. Please keep the category statement as the last line in the article

Thanks to everyone who contributes!
