I don't know if this is the right spot to post this, but I am having a lot of trouble scanning right now. I would like to scan the Manning, Iowa law enforcement tower frequency, but I cannot find anything online about it. I also am not picking anything up from the nearby towns of Denison or Carroll which are both about 30 miles from me, and I live in between. I am 100% certain that Manning has a tower as our county dispatcher has confirmed it, but he says he is not legally allowed to just give me the frequency, he has also confirmed with me that all of the systems, unless a certain tac channel, is unencrypted and should be able to be scanned. I figured you guys at RR would know where to look better than me, as I am still trying to learn everything about this new type of system. I love two-way radios and scanners, so I hope you can help me. I have an SDS100 that is not picking up anything at all. It is on the P25 Phase II digital band, I have the stock antenna still, and my squelch is at 0. I have signal bars now and then, depending on what frequency it is on, and it fluctuates between 0 and 5 bars throughout roughly 20 frequencies. I have manually punched in the local frequencies for Carroll and Denison and I am not receiving anything, so I don't know if it is just too far away or I programmed them in wrong. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Do I have any settings set wrong? Should I return my scanner because it is defective? PLEASE HELP!
