All county fire departments are dispatched off the VHF fire channel. Frequencies "state fire" and "Fire Ops 1-3" are the main fire ground channels, designated by the incident commander. Full time patch on the county fire VHF and VIPER channel. Some fire departments have their own private VHF channels used mainly for training.


Wilkes dispatch center is known on the radio as "Comm Center"
