Law Enforcement

Most units identify in the following format:
(# indicating agency)-(letter indicating function)-(# identifying unit and/or beat assignment)

Example: 2D2 is City of Woodland, Day Watch, Beat 2 Patrol Officer

Most unit identifiers are based on a beat assignment. For example, 1D42 is the second day watch sheriff's deputy assigned to beat 4. Some unit identifiers may be simple sequential numbers, particularly for specialty units: 1B1, 1B2, and 1B3 are the units that make up the sheriff's marine patrol. Davis PD uses the officer's badge number as the unit identifier.
