Upper-tier Municipalities

The Regional Municipality of York, or York Region, is an upper-tier municipality under Ontario law. For Radio Reference and certain Uniden radio purposes, the term "county" is used. The region consists of nine Lower-tier municipalities: the cities of Markham, Richmond Hill, and Vaughan; the towns of Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, Newmarket, and Whitchurch–Stouffville; and the Township of King.
