East Hants
The Municipality of East Hants operates a series of repeaters covering all stations in East Hants with the exception of Enfield and Mount Uniacke, as well as a common paging frequency. The repeaters are located at Barr Settlement (near Gore), Maitland, Noel and Walton Shore. Dispatching services are provided by Valley Communications, in Kentville.
Enfield and Mount Uniacke fire departments are not dispatched by Valley Communications, they are dispatched by Halifax Regional Municipality's Integrated Emergency Services dispatching centre in Dartmouth, and as such do not use the East Hants county system for daily operations. Enfield does however have the ability to operate on the East Hants system, for mutual aid responses with other stations in East Hants. Enfield and Mount Uniacke fire use the Halifax Regional Fire talkgroups on the TMR for their dispatching and operations.

Stations and unit suffixes
All stations in East Hants (with the exception of Mount Uniacke) are assigned a station number in the county communications system. Each unit or piece of apparatus is assigned a three or four digit call sign used on the radio system, with the first or first two digits consisting of the station number, followed by a two digit suffix denoting the type of unit or apparatus.
Stations are as follows:
# | Station |
---|---|
1 | Shubenacadie |
2 | Elmsdale |
3 | Nine Mile River |
4 | Lantz |
5 | Maitland |
6 | Milford |
7 | Noel |
8 | Rawdon |
9 | Gore |
10 | Kennetcook |
11 | Enfield (when responding mutual aid with other East Hants stations) |
12 | Indian Brook |
The two digit suffixes are as follows:
## | Unit or apparatus |
---|---|
00 | The station itself |
01 | Station chief |
02 | Deputy chief |

For example unit 211 on the radio would be Elmsdale station's first pumper.
West Hants

Both municipalities can however continue to use the Aliant Trunked Mobile Radio System (TMRS) talkgroups "EO-C1" through "EO-C4", and the provincial mutual aid VHF simplex frequency 153.83
Ambulance
Ambulance services are provided by Emergency Health Services (EHS). Communications are on the EHS "North 1," "West 2" and "Central 1" talkgroups on the Aliant Trunked Mobile Radio System (TMRS).
