In accordance with the Department of Defense's 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Committee, all of its aircraft have been allocated to other units within the United States Air Force. The 178th FW is a flying training organization falling under the joint command of the Air National Guard and the Air Education and Trainign Command (AETC). The 178th FW is currently training pilots of the Royal Netherlands Air Force 306th Squadron through 2010 in an agreement between the United States and the Netherlands. All F-16 aircraft currently at Springfield ANGB are from the RNLAF.

Springfield Air National Guard Base (KSGH) is a base for the Ohio Air National Guard at Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport in Clark County, Ohio. The base is located 6 miles south of the central business district of Springfield. It covers 1,516 acres and has two runways; 6/24 and 15/33.
