Fire Department
Arapahoe County is protected by 9 different fire department which include Aurora Fire Rescue, Bennett Fire Protection District, Byers Fire Protection District, Cunningham Fire Protection District, Deer Trail Fire Protection District, Denver Fire Department, Littleton Fire Rescue, Sable Altura Fire Department, and Strasburg Fire Protection District. A specific map of the fire direct boundaries can be found here (PDF).
Dispatch for these agencies are split between 4 communications centers.
Aurora Fire Rescue
Aurora Fire Rescue is dispatched by the Aurora Public Safety Communications Department on Aurora P25. Aurora Fire Rescue is in charge of fire protection for all areas within the boundaries of the City of Aurora. Aurora Fire Rescue requires a P25 Phase 2 capable scanner in order to monitor them. They are dispatched on Dispatch (Aurora TG 39101) and respond on any of their tactical talkgroups, most often Tac 2 (Aurora TG 39102) for routine calls.
Denver Fire Department
Denver Fire Department provides fire protection for the City of Englewood, City of Glendale, City of Sheridan, and parts of unincorporated Arapahoe County surrounded by the City of Denver. Areas covered by the Denver Fire Department is split into 8 districts, the map can be found here. Districts that cover parts of Arapahoe County include District 3, District 4, and District 7.
Their operations are found on Denver Public Safety. If the needed unit is in quarters at the station, dispatch will be aired on the Denver Fire VocAlarm (154.070 MHz/Denver TG 797). The dispatch information is commonly repeated on Channel 1 (Denver TG 785) after the unit goes en route to the scene. If the DFD unit is out and on the air, then the call will typically be aired on Channel 1.
All major incidents are automatically assigned a tactical channel on dispatch. The assigned tactical channel depends on the district it is in. For example, District 3 incident will get one of the Tac 3 talkgroups and a District 7 incident will get one of the Tac 7 talkgroups.
Littleton Fire Rescue Communications Center
Littleton Fire Rescue Communications Center dispatches for Littleton Fire Rescue and Cunningham Fire Protection District. Littleton Fire Rescue Communications Center is referred to as "Control" over the air.
Littleton Fire Rescue
Littleton Fire Rescue is dispatched by Control on Control 1 (TG 1851), which is shared with Cunningham Fire Protection District. Units routinely respond on Control 1 for most incidents. A call for a major incident is typically automatically put on one of Littleton's even numbered operations channel for response. Typically Ops 2 is used for fire related assignments and Ops 4 is used for rescue assignments.
Littleton has a pool of odd numbered conventional fireground frequency for use if requested. The fireground channel assignment will typically be paired with the operations channel, for example Ops 2 & Fireground 3.
Cunningham Fire Protection District
Cunningham Fire Protection District is dispatched by Control on Control 1 (TG 1851), which is shared with Littleton Fire Rescue. Units routinely respond on Control 1 for most incidents. A call for a major incident is typically automatically on its own channel, however the channel select greatly depends on the location and aiding agencies involved. If the incident involves Aurora Fire Rescue on the initial dispatch, it will be put on Red SE (TG 2297). Otherwise it will typically land on one of Cunningham's operations channel.
Metropolitan Area Communications Center (MetCom)
South Metro Fire Rescue's Metropolitan Area Communications Center (MetCom) dispatches for South Metro Fire Rescue, Bennett Fire Protection District, Byers Fire Protection District, Deer Trail Fire Protection District, Sable Altura Fire Department, and Strasburg Fire Protection District.
South Metro Fire Rescue
MetCom dispatches South Metro Fire Rescue on MetCom 1 (TG 1786) using an automated voice dispatching system. Units go en route on and get additional information on MetCom 2 (TG 1792). MetCom will assign an odd numbered operations channel for the incident upon request by the incident commander. Operations channel are typically assigned from the lowest number to the highest number.
MetCom has the ability to assign an even numbered conventional fireground channel for use if requested. The fireground channel assignment will typically be paired with the operations channel, for example Ops 5 & Fireground 6.
I-70 Corridor (East MetCom)
The I-70 corridor agencies are made up by Bennett Fire Protection District, Byers Fire Protection District, Deer Trail Fire Protection District, Sable Altura Fire Department, and Strasburg Fire Protection District. They are dispatched by MetCom on EM Dispatch (TG 39). These agencies frequently work together on a near daily basis. Units are automatically given an operations channel to work on when dispatched. These operations channels are typically assigned from lowest to highest number.

Emergency Medical Services
Most EMS in Arapahoe County is provided by fire departments. Exceptions to this are the City of Aurora or areas covered by the Denver Fire Department. Both often send fire resources to assist in patient care, however ambulance transports are handled by separate providers. The City of Aurora contracts Falck Rocky Mountain for ambulance services. Denver Fire Department uses Denver Health Paramedic Division.
Denver Health Paramedic Division
Denver Health Paramedic Division is dispatched entirely on Denver Public Safety. All calls are dispatched on AM Ops (Denver TG 849). Units are sent to ETAC 1 (Denver TG 858) for additional information and response.
For the City of Englewood, Denver Health Paramedic Division has a special method of operating. They are required to station ambulances within the Englewood based Denver Fire Stations 37 and 38. They are also required to only respond to calls within Englewood. Ambulance 837 is stationed in Station 37 and Ambulance 838 is stationed in Station 38. These ambulances do not routinely monitor AM Ops unless they are requested by dispatched. Ambulance 837 is requested on ETAC 7 (Denver TG 853) and Ambulance 838 is requested on ETAC 8 (Denver TG 854). Both switch over to AM Ops for dispatch and respond on ETAC 1.
Falck Rocky Mountain
Falck Rocky Mountain requires a P25 Phase 2 capable scanner in order to monitor. They are dispatched on EMS 5 (Aurora TG 39112) and respond on one of the Aurora Fire Rescue talkgroups, typically Tac 2 (Aurora TG 39102).
