County EMS

  • EMS initial call-out is on TG 8585 Dispatch (also broadcasts on 8535) in the clear and then TG 8535 is used for Ops (Dispatch/Response, encrypted)
  • Patient Reports - Use a standalone UHF MED frequency to contact the hospital in the county in Oak Ridge. Most transports go to one of 7 different Knox county hospitals. When going to a Knox hospital the EMS unit calls the regional medical communications center on MED10, then they assign them an UHF MED channel (MED 3-8) and dials in to create a “patch”. There is also a couple of Statewide VHF EMS channels simplex used as backup patches to hospitals. The plan is to start moving that all to TACN and that work has started.
