Categories-Tree Notes

• This article lists ideas for future Categories-Tree maintenance, strategy for implementation, as well as pertinent notes for each idea, so that they do not get "lost" in the growing discussion in the forums.

Idea: New Category "Wiki Frequencies"

• Idea: Build large "Wiki Frequencies" category parallel to existing "Collaboration" category.

• Example: The recreation and attractions categories often overlap each other, and each could be interpreted to be the other in many cases. For example, golf courses can be both

• Idea: Categories that have children as frequency categories might be unnecessarily redundant if everything in that parent category has frequencies in the first place

Ideas for Templates

Idea: "Frequencies" Template

• Idea: Create a template to standardize the narrative at the top of the "...Frequencies" category pages.

Idea: Template between Frequency articles and State articles

• Idea: "another template can be used to send the <statename> frequency articles to their collaboration state name"

Idea:Use standardized template for displaying trunked frequencies

• Idea: Where neither the extensions nor the trunking infobox template is being used, if a trunk system is being defined in the article with frequencies, use the Motofreq and ELTRfreq templates. These display the frequencies in a table similar to what is currently in the database
• Status: The templates already exist, and will be installed where appropriate

Ideas for Articles

Idea: Article: Software that can copy-paste data

• Idea: "...article to identify which applications have the ability to copy the frequency data into their application editor"

• Note: Could be treated as a new category, or built as an article.

Idea: Create separate articles for RID/UID details

• Idea: "We do have a number of RID/UID lists posted on articles that are just for a trunked system - so perhaps it would be a good idea to split them off onto their own article. It would certainly allow for future growth."

Idea: Split off FTO and RID/UID lists by state

• Idea: Once all the states have been scanned, split the RID/UID lists and FTO categories which are getting very large into sub categories by state. Then attach these sub-categories to their parent states' home page. So (for example) there would be a Maryland Frequencies, Maryland FTO and Maryland RID/UIDs link on the Maryland collaboration page. This would help isolate these topics by state making them easier to find. This would be a long term project, after the frequencies are completely implemented.
