Clinton County

Clinton County is located in southwestern Ohio. It was formed from sections of Highland and Warren Counties in 1810. It is named in honor of George Clinton, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.

The City of Wilmington is the largest municipality and county seat. There are eight villages and thirteen townships in the county, along with several unincorporated areas.

Public Safety Communications

The public safety communications for the county moved from VHF low band for fire and UHF for police to a standard EDACS system some years ago. The county EDACS system has been decommissioned. In 2016 Clinton County entered a partnership with the Ohio DAS and now use the Ohio MARCS IP system

There are no fire grounds 10 through 13 and fire grounds 14 through 19 
are assigned by the County Dispatch Center first but if necessary the 
county can assign fire grounds 04 through 09.

11530  E  14 CM ER  EMS field units can radio in to Clinton Memorial Hospital 
                    with patient information for pre arrival preparation of the 
                    incoming patient.

Ohio State Highway Patrol

Wilmington is the headquarters of OSP District 8 (southwestern Ohio) and Post 14 which is located at 950 Rombach Avenue. They dispatch for Post 14 and Post 29 (Xenia) and provide traffic enforcement for Fayette and Highland counties. All communications use the Ohio MARCS statewide system.

Cowan Lake State Park

Cowan Lake State Park is located 4 miles southwest of Wilmington. It is maintained by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and falls under ODNR Region 4. It is patrolled by ODNR Park Rangers from the Caesar Creek State Park Office, who travel back and forth from both parks via Ohio SR 73. The Campground Check-In Station communicates with park rangers and other personnel including the park VIP on 151.2800 simplex using a 103.5 PL. All other official park communications are on the Ohio MARCS statewide system. Other VIP (Camp ground overseers) and campers can be heard using FRS radios throughout the summer camping season.
