1980s - The City acquired a new VHF - Low Band frequency (45.64 MHz) for Public Works. This gave fire and rescue a separate frequency.

1990s - The City acquired additional VHF - Low Band frequencies and gave each agency a separate frequency.

45.56 MHz - emergency management

45.42 MHz - police

46.06 MHz - fire & rescue 1

1990s - 2000s

During this time, all City agencies converted to UHF - 450 MHz communications. The police were first, followed by public works. Then as more funds became available, fire and rescue was moved to UHF. The paging for fire & rescue continued on VHF - Low Band and UHF for a period of time when multiple channel, narrow band pagers became available. After all members of both agencies were outfitted with new pagers and the old VHF - Low Band transmitter started to malfunction, paging was completely moved to UHF.

THERE IS NO SIMULCASTING DONE ON CITY FREQUENCIES EXCEPT FOR FREQUENCIES WHICH ARE LINKED FROM ONE OF THE 450 MHZ TACTICAL CHANNELS TO THE CITY 800 MHZ CHANNEL ON THE MEADWESTVACO TOWER!!!
