The Wisconsin Department of Corrections operates all of the state-owned correctional institutions located in Wisconsin. Facility operations are managed under the Division of Adult Institutions (DAI) and the Division of Juvenile Corrections (DJC). The 36 adult institutions and facilities under the DAI are further sub-divided, with 19 operated under DAI directly, 14 operated under the Wisconsin Correctional Center System (WCCS), and three operated under the Wisconsin Women's Correctional System (WWCS).
Division of Adult Institutions
The Division of Adult Institutions operates the 19 Maximum, Medium, and Minumum security prisons in Wisconsin. DAI inmates requiring mental health care are transferred to the Wisconsin Resource Center, operated by the Department of Health Services.
