Aurora Township Fire Protection District

News from CARMA: As of Jan 1 South Park FPD (DB Montgomery PD) and Moecherville (DB Kane County) are now Aurora Township FPD. Currently using both fire stations and combined staff. This was done do to the fact that each other provided auto aid, and to combine money resources and staff. This was voted on by voters in these areas and it passed at the last election. Apparently Mongomery PD and Kane South dispatch them (but with dif tones. Probably so they didn't have to change pl's) South Park FPD: Serves an unicorporated area on the south side of Aurora and the east side of Montgomery (General vacinity of Montgomery Rd, the Kane-Kendall County line, Farnsworth Ave and Douglas Rd)

Aurora Police & Fire Unit ID's and Codes

Aurora Police Department
City divided into 3 Areas:
Area 1 - West side and downtown
Area 2 - East side
Area 3 - Far east side (DuPage/Kendall/Will Co. portions)

Each area is divided into 4 districts:
Districts 3,5,7,9 - Area 1
Districts 2,4,6,8 - Area 2
Districts 10,12,14,16 - Area 3

### = Patrol units (e.g. 203, second shift car assigned to district 3).
###X = Patrol units (e.g. 110A, a backup car assigned to district 10, first shift).
P## = Community Oriented Policing units (e.g. P28). Area 1 C.O.P. units are in the teens, Area 2 units are the twenties, Area 3 are the thirties.
G## = Special Operations Group units (e.g. G11). These officers drive unmarked cars, wear plain clothes with bullet proof vests, and handle vice related crimes.
#F## = Downtown units (e.g. 1F12). These officers are most often on foot in the downtown area, doing casino patrol, handling calls, etc. The first number is the shift number, and the two numbers after the F can only be either 10,11,12,and 13 (the 10 and 12 have nothing to do with Area 3 districts).
#L9# = Prisoner transport vans (e.g. 2L93). Since patrol officers are often too busy to transport their arrestees to the jail, transport vans manned by normal patrol officers take care of this. The first number is the shift, and the two numbers after "Lincoln" are either 90,91,92,93,94,or 95. Do not confuse with the other "Lincoln" units (see below).
#L# = Special detail cars (e.g. 3L3). These are patrol officers who do not handle calls; instead they do special details in their Area.
T# = Traffic investigators (e.g. T8). They handle serious accident investigations.
Z# = Traffic detail cars (e.g. Z3). Normal patrol officers who enforce traffic laws for the day. The number after the "Zebra" most often indicates the Area the car is assigned to.
H## = Animal control units (e.g. H28). They're not on the air all the time. I've only heard H27, 28, and 29.
M# = Park district units working at the water park area (e.g. M1 or M2 only). They use this ID when they're on the Aurora's radio; they're normally dispatched by Kane Co.
I## = Investigators (e.g. I38).
J## = Juvenile officers/ School liaison officers (e.g. J8). A one or two digit number can follow the "John".
O### = Off duty officers. The officer's three digit badge number follows the "Ocean".
#S## = Supervisors (e.g. 1S19). The first number is the shift, and the other two numbers indicate a lieutenant (in the teens) or a sergeant (twenties).
C## = Commanders (e.g. C84). The guys on top. The chief is C99.
X### = Officers working extra jobs. The officer's badge number follows the "x-ray".
B# = Cadets (e.g. B5). Teenagers in the APD cadets program.
#D# = Desk officer (e.g. 2D1). A normal patrol officer assigned to take reports at the front desk.

10 CODES (NON-STANDARD)
10-3 = Affirmative
10-6 = Busy

OTHER CODES
CODE 1 = Carrying a passenger (most often used with the transport vans).
CODE 2 = Meal break
CODE 4 = Warrant service
CODE 8 = Meet
CODE 9 = ?
CODE 10 = Local/community patrol
CODE 11 = Bathroom break
CODE 23 = Sensitive info (same as 10-61)
CODE 30 = Emergency traffic only (channel closed)
