Lincoln County is dispatched via the '''[http://www.lincolncountysd.org/Page.cfm/Departments/2/911-Communications Lincoln County Sheriffs Office under the call sign 44-1]'''. 44-1 is located in the basement of the county court house in Canton, SD. Radio communications are primarily done on analog frequencies. The nearest digital towers near Lincoln county are in Sioux Falls, or south in Union County. This creates many dead spots for radio users, especially for handheld radios. The only entities that only use the digital system for communications is Highway Patrol, DOT, and other state users.
