Ottawa County Fire - Numbering Scheme
The First two numbers of the numbering plan are the department number. The 3rd digit is
the type of apparatus, and the fourth digit in the number is supposed to be station
that the unit is assigned to; though not all depts did follow that for the fourth number.

The 3rd digit is Type of Apparatus:
1 Pumpers under 750 gpm
2 Pumpers over 750 gpm
3 Special Apparatus (Water Rescue)
4 Aerial Devices, platforms, etc
5 Special Types (Emergency Services)
6 Tankers
7 Rescue Trucks, and other rescue
8 Brush Units, / Special types / Watercraft
9 Command officers
The fourth number is supposed to be station number or in the case of Command Officers,
the lowest number being the chief, and highest being lowest ranking senior officer.
Examples:
1290 12 = Holland twp, 9 = Commmand 0 = Chief
1222 12 = Holland twp 2 = pumper 2 = Station 2

On Police 1 City Dispatch (154.7250):

Holland city units are generally a phonetic letter followed by one or two numbers
(like Charlie 21, or Union 32). Adam/Baker/Charlie units are assigned to a specific
zone (area) of the city.
The Holland city unit types heard are:
Adam (Zone A)
Baker (Zone B)
Charlie (Zone C)
David (less common)

Motor (Motorcycle, less common)
Robert (Reserve units)
Tom (Traffic units)
Union (Evidence Technician)

Ottawa County units are 7xxx. 71xx units are supervisors. 73xx serves the southwest
county area, 74xx serves southeast, 75xx northeast, 76xx northwest.
Certain townships choose to have medically trained police units (called E-Units)
respond to medical calls, instead of fire departments. E-3x units serve Holland and
Park Twps, and E-4x units serve Georgetown Twp.
The county boats are refered to as "County Boat (70, 71, 72, 73, and 74.). While they
can be transported elsewhere when needed, the first three are usually in Grand
Haven/Spring Lake, and the last two are usually around Holland, Lake Macatawa.
Grand Valley State University units are 96xx.
