I bought a Pro-95 a few months ago. For the most part it’s a great scanner. I was looking for something that did

trunking, and was leaning mostly towards a hand held unit. I mostly use it for trunking systems, as I have other

equipment for the other bands. The Pro-95 receives on 4 public service bands, 6 HAM bands, the marine band, the

air band, and the CB band. (I did like the fact it received on the CB band and 220 HAM band, a feature left out

on many scanners.) The small rubber duck antenna that comes with the scanner performs fairly well. It has a BNC

connector for an external antenna, however turning on the built-in attenuator is a must when using an external

antenna. Overall, a pretty good scanner, especially for the price I got it at, $150.

please guys and girls i cant belive you are giving the pro-95 this much credit this scanner is junkee the air

bands sound like one big plane the audio sucks in it and the complecations of the scanner is overwelming it is

very hard to work the scanner and program,at the time i was a rookie in scanning and my local radioshack dealer

said it was a begginer scanner i highly disagree,PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR RADIOSHACK THEY HAVE NO CLUE ON HOW A RADIO

WORKS AND DONT HAVE A CLUE ON HOW "THEIR" PRODUCT WORKS!!!!!! I RATE THIS SCANNER A D+

I actually traded in a Bearcat handheld and $70 at a local pawn shop for my Pro-95, practically new and programed,

in the box, with all manuals and printouts for my area. This is my 1st trunking scanner, however I use it mainly to

monitor everything but the trunked frequencies. There's just not that much going on around here that interests me

concerning that. Reception is great on all bands with the stock antenna, trunked or not. Maybe the previous poster

had a defective unit...I work at KCHS, and can recieve all aircraft transmissions crystal clear, even when I'm at

home. Reception is good enough to actually do some body blocking directional finding of distant VOR signal codes,

and ELT locating (which I have used this scanner for, and found the downed aircraft). The alpha-tagging is great.

I'll never own another scanner that doesn't have this feature. 1000 channels, I still have 800 left to fill.

All in all, I am extremely pleased with this scanner. Like my wrist watch, palm pilot and car keys, this thing is

with me all the time. The only reason I don't give it a 10....the manual is absolutely horrible. Other than that,

if I hadn't paid $70 for the thing, I would have gladly paid the MSRP and still be just as happy.

I've had the Pro95, took it back to Radio Shack, what the problem is, the AM Aircraft Band sounds like FM white

noise, and for those of us who enjoy monitoring the Aviation band I dont suggest buying this radio, because it sucks

royally, when you have FM White Noise in the Aviation Frequencies it wont pick up Aircraft worth a darn. Seems they

didnt make Aviation Monitoring a Priority, other than that, its good for everything else.

the pro 95 is an excellent scanner, Just upgraded from a pro-94 a month ago. Nice features like text tagging for freqs

and talk group id's. just wish they would have added a ctcss board on it to filter out unwanted agencys/users in

conventional mode. All in all though I give the scanner 2 thumbs up.

Radio Shack's Pro-95 Dual Trunking Handheld scanner is Super! I paid $200 august 2003, i originally bought

one in 2002 but it malfunctioned (my fault) and i had to get a new one. I love that this scanner has the Alph-Text

tags so you know what you are listening to instead of having to go through a list of freqencies to know who is talking.

Another excellent feature is the 1000 channel storage...enough free channels for anything i want to program. Very nice

design, decent battery life, has tons and tons of features. My second scanner, i originally bought a Pro-42 off ebay

used, this is WAY more high-tech. I would recommend this to all for the price. Once I get a job i plan on upgrading to

the Pro-96 probably, but for less than half the cost of the 96 this has a lot of the same great features for a fraction

of the cost. I would recommend this to all, excellnt price for an excellent product. Im sure its about $100-$150ish now

that it isnt the newest RS Model.

I purchased the Pro-95 in December 04, for $149.00-on sale at RS. It was the first Trunked Radio Scanner I have

owned, and I must say, I am impressed! Learning curve was steep and at times frustrating. I agree with another

reviewer about the owner's manual-it is pathetic and needs to be rewritten. The text tags are great, as is the

ability to store 1000 channels. I've found reception in the Salem, OR./Portland,OR. area to be exceptional, except

for the CB channels. For some reason, even close to I-5, I do not receive a lot of CB radio traffic, which seems

odd, as I-5 gets so much truck traffic. Having owned this scanner for over 5 months now, I wouldn't trade it for

anything. It is by far the best scanner I have ever owned and I use it every day. Mr.Barbecue, Salem, OR.

This FREE programs has saved me countless hours of programing and researching for frequencies. I bought the 20-289 cable at Radio Shack for $19.99 plus tax. Useing the software I can now program in the blocked military and other freqs which is great since I live near a Air Force/National Guard/USCG base. THANKS SO MUCH.
