Notes

Please note, that in the Database for Alamance County, that the following agencies are on VIPER now:

  • Alamance County Sheriff's Office,
  • Alamance County EMS,
  • Alamance County Rescue,
  • Alamance County Fire Departments,
  • Graham Fire Department,
  • Graham Police Department,
  • Mebane Police Department,
  • Haw River Police Department,

and these agencies are on the Greensboro/Guilford TRS:

  • Elon Campus Police,
  • Elon Police Department,
  • Gibsonville Police Department (Patched to Elon PD Talkgroup),
  • Burlington Police Department,
  • Burlington Fire Department,

Please note that VIPER and the Greensboro-Guilford TRS, are DIGITAL systems. When purchasing a scanner refer to its wiki page on RadioReference. Under "RR System Compatibility" if it says "P25 Common Air Interface" and "P25 Common Air Interface Exclusive", your scanner is compatible! Also, the Elon Police Talkgroups on VIPER, are currently patched to the Corresponding TGIDs on the Greensboro-Guilford System!

Alamance County EMS uses their freq (156.120) for dispatch only! When an EMS unit calls in all you hear is the dispatcher responding (no simulcast on EMS freq.) The EMS units only talk on VIPER. The Alamance County Fire does simulcast (i.e. you can hear both units and dispatcher).

Swepsonville, Snow Camp, and Eli Whitney fire stations do not dispatch their sub-stations by number. Instead, the district for FIRE calls is divided (these stations only have 1-2 medical vehicles for each station). In Elon's case, however, the district for MEDICAL calls is divided, and both stations respond on fire calls. Snow Camp and Swepsonville also use this system to some extent.
