System Description

Alaska Land Mobile Radio is a multi-site, multi-borough system located in the State of Alaska. Most sites of the system are situated along the State’s highway system. The system is broken up into several Zones:

  • Zone 1 includes Southcentral Alaska south of the Denali Highway.
  • Zone 2 includes Interior Alaska north of the Denali Highway, and east towards the Canada border.
  • Zone 3 includes Southeast Alaska
  • Zone 4 includes the Municipality of Anchorage, extending from Portage to Eklutna. Zone 4 can also be referred to as “Anchorage Wide Area Radio Network (AWARN)”, and is owned by the City of Anchorage. Users native to this system operate on 700mhz frequencies, but have access to certain ALMR talkgroups.

Some talkgroups operating on the system, especially the incident command channels, are organized and programmed by regions:

  • Region A is Southeast Alaska
  • Region B is parts of Mat-Su Borough south of Mile 147 Parks Hwy and Valdez-Cordova Borough
  • Region C is West Alaska, including Kodiak Island
  • Region D is Interior Alaska, north of Mile 147 Parks to Fairbanks-North Star Borough and Southeast Fairbanks Borough.
  • Region E is Kenai Peninsula
  • Region F is Anchorage Municipality.
