Albany County Sheriff Call Signs

To complicate a call sign system that can only be described as "a mess": As the department transitions from 3 digits to 4 digits current/former 3 digit units will begin to identify with a preceding "3", this is especially true for patrol supervisors. Some units belonging to the Fire Coordinator's Office will use a "4" instead. This is also the case for some Emergency Management units which can't seem to figure out how they want to identify (i.e. the conflict between "3712" and "4950" [confirmed as an Emergency Management unit, not Fire Coordinator's office]).
