71XX - Michigan State Police Post Traverse City 79XX - Michigan State Police Post Kalkaska units 1-99 - Sheriff units (higher numbers usually marine/auxillary units) XX-1 - Local Municipality Police Chief/Supervisor units XX-2-9 - Local Municipality Police units (lower number usually higher seniority) An example might be: 33-1 is the police chief for Bellaire. 33-9 might be a reserve officer for Bellaire.
