Arlington County Police 10-Codes

The 10-codes are similar to the 10-codes used by the Virginia State Police, with some exceptions.

  • 10-7 Out of Service
  • 10-8 In Service (a unit is not currently handling or responding to a call)
  • 10-9 Repeat Last Transmission
  • 10-10 Fight In Progress
  • 10-16 Domestic Dispute
  • 10-17 Complaintant/caller wishes to speak to responding unit regarding complaint
  • 10-29 Records Check (driver's license or license plate)
  • 10-32 Gun (i.e., subject has a 10-32)
  • 10-38 Traffic Stop
  • 10-55 Intoxicated Driver
  • 10-56 Intoxicated Pedestrian
  • 10-74 Not stolen/wanted
  • 10-85 Request crane (tow truck)
  • 10-99 Stolen/wanted (results of a 10-29 are either 10-74 or 10-99)


Arlington County Police Disposition/Status Codes

000 Series: ECC Clearances

000 - Administrative Closure

  • 001 - Incomplete Closure

100 Series: Unfounded Incident

  • 101 - Nothing found, Unable to locate complainant, occurred in other jurisdiction, etc.
  • 102 - Complaint located, but no violation or civil matter

Series: Alarm Dispositions

  • 201 - False Alarm ... Confirmed by Employee/Resident on Site
  • 202 - False Alarm ... Premised Checked, Appear Secure, No Sign of Tampering or Intrusion
  • 203 - False Alarm ... Possibly Caused by Weather, Power Outage, Fire, or Other External Factor
  • 204 - Good Alarm ... No Burglary, but Open Window, Open Door, Prowler, or Other Suspicious Condition Noted

300 Series: Verified Crime or Incident

  • 300 - Assist Only (6A, 6B, or assist other officer or agency)
  • 301 - Minor incident or dispute was resolved, No report 302 - Field Observation Report Only (No IBR-style PD6 Report)
  • 303 - Non-custodial Traffic Citation or Parking Ticket Issued
  • 304 - Report to Follow, No Arrest (IBR-style PD6 and traffic accident reports only)
  • 305 - Full Custody Arrest, No Report
  • 306 - Full Custody Arrest, Report to Follow (IBR-style PD6 and traffic accident reports only)

Status Codes

  • OSA - Administrative: Out of service for administrative activites (training, personnel matters, vehicle maintenance, etc.)
  • OSC - Community: Out of service for community-oriented policing or community relations activities, including projects and public meetings, as well as informal activities such as returning a citizen's telephone call, etc.
  • OSD - Detail: Out of service on an assigned detail
  • OSL - Legal: Out of service for court appearance, conferences with commonwealth attorney, or case preparation
  • OSP - Personal: Out of service for personal reasons (meals, uniform changes, calls to home, etc.)
  • OSU - Unit: Out of service designator for an off-duty unit (part-time jobs and miscellaneous off-duty units) OSZ - Setup: Dispatcher's status for logging on units prior to shift
