Barix Instreamer 100 Network Audio Encoder Setup Instructions

Before You Start

If you have the older Instreamer (before they were called Instreamer 100) you may to upgrade the firmware so the older units can support ‘icecast’ streaming.

Read the manual for connection details and determining the IP address.

Then, open this IP address in your web brows to view the management screen of the Barix box.

When you connect, you will come to the Configuration Page.

Click on the Configuration Tab.

Network Tab

Leave this blank if you only will use DHCP to assign the IP address to the Instreamer. Keep in mind that the IP address may change if you need to reboot the Instreamer.

To make it easy to locate the Instreamer on your network you might want to assign a static IP address to it. There are two options:

  • assign an address directly in the Barix
  • reserve an address in your DHCP server

A static IP address never changes, but you must ensure that you choose a unique address to avoid conflicts with other devices on your network.

Some DHCP servers allow you to reserve an address that you specify so that a specific hardware MAC address always gets assigned the same IP address. The Instreamer remains in DHCP mode, but always pulls the same IP address. This centralizes all the static address assignments where you can find them easily and establishes a consistent address where you can find the Instreamer management screens.
