Squad 1 - Bedford EMS

Formerly the Bedford Life Saving Crew, Squad 1 is now a volunteer component of the County's Fire and Rescue Department. Squad 1 is only dispatched to calls when a volunteer unit is in-service.

Company 5 has one main station located in Forest and one substation located in New London.

Squad 5 - Campbell Co. RS

Squad 5 is co-funded by Bedford County and Campbell County. Squad 5 is based out of Campbell County and has one main station and three substations, including one in Forest. Campbell County is dispatched to calls by both jurisdictions. In Campbell County, the squad's call sign is Squad 2, while in Bedford County the squad's call sign is Squad 5.

Company 10 has one main station located in White House and a substation located in Lake Forest.

Company 11 - Smith Mountain Lake Marine FR

Company 11 is co-funded by Bedford County and Franklin County. The department operates boats in Bedford, Franklin, and Pittsylvania Counties and responds to all incidents on the lake, as well as those within 1000 feet of shoreline. Smith Mountain Lake is dispatched to calls in all three jurisdictions. Company 11 has a small facility behind the main Saunders fire station.

Company 12 - Hardy FD

Company 12 is co-funded by Bedford County and Franklin County. It is located in Bedford County, but received its station number from Franklin County. Company 12 is dispatched to calls in both jurisdictions.

Squad 12 - Hardy LSC

Squad 12 is located in Bedford County, but received its station number from Franklin County. Unlike Company 12, Squad 12 does not provide automatic aid to Franklin County.

Company 13 - Stewartsville-Chamblissburg FD

Company 13 has one main station located in Stewartsville and a substation located in Chamblissburg.

Bedford County Fire & Rescue employs over 40 full time career staff that perform administrative and operational duties. Administrative staff are headquartered in the Fire & Rescue complex outside of the Town of Bedford, while field staff are located in the Bedford, Big Island, Forest, Goode, Moneta, and Stewartsville stations.
