Statewide DTRS

The State of Colorado Digital Trunked Radio System (DTRS) is not widely utilized in by local agencies in Boulder County. Its primary users within the County are state agencies such as Colorado State Patrol (CSP) and Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). Longmont is the only city in Boulder County that uses DTRS for primary communications. Some other cities dispatched on Green and Red 1 are in the process of testing DTRS. For these users, Green is patched to TG 9100 and Red 1 is patched to TG 9104.

Please see the Boulder County DTRS Database for control channel frequencies and talk group IDs.

State Agencies

For CSP, the 1-David Troop covers Boulder County. Any State Patrol Talkgroup(s) for Troops within the CSP "Denver Dispatch" coverage area may be patched together at any time. Refer to the CSP section in the DTRS database.

CDOT patrol 1L (1 Lincoln) covers the state highways in the county, TGID 2499.

City of Longmont

  • Police are dispatched Longmont PD Ch. 1 (TGID 9515)
  • Fire is dispatched on Longmont Fire Ch. 1 (TGID 9522)

Currently, only police dispatch is simulcast on their VHF channel (156.210 MHz).

County Fire Units

Some of the county fire departments dispatched on VHF Red 1 have tactical talk groups on the DTRS system. These are Allenspark Fire (9542, 9543), Lafayette Fire (64, 63), Coal Creek Fire (1501), Rocky Mountain Fire (9111). Mountain View Fire has talkgroups on FRCC and DTRS. See relevant RR DB entries for more details).

Sites In The County

Sites For Additional Coverage

Fire Tone Out (FTO)

Paging is performed on many of the analog frequencies used in the county. These tones can be used with scanners that support fire tone out. See Fire Tone Out for more information.

Boulder County Red 1

Boulder County Fire Dispatch Red 1 uses mostly paging tones that correspond to the Plectron standard, although the timing differs. Some tones are Motorola Quick Call II. Some tones are neither.

Avoiding using a Red 1 repeater channel for monitoring tones higher than 1820 Hz, as the repeater won't rebroadcast it. In that case, you will have to monitor 154.325 MHz directly.
