General Information

The California Air National Guard Base in Fresno is home to the 144th Fighter Wing. The operational unit of the 144th Fighter Wing is the 194th Fighter Squadron.

The Federal Mission of the 144th Fighter Wing is to provide Air Superiority in support of worldwide joint operations as well as Air Defense of the United States. Additionally, the wing provides agile combat support, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance to combatant commanders around the globe. The Wing also provides a variety of homeland defense capabilities to U.S. NORTHCOM.

The State Mission of the 144th Fighter Wing is to provide a variety of Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) capabilities to the Governor of California. Primary contributions include ready manpower, reconnaissance assets,response to chemical, biological and radiological attacks, security, medical, civil engineering and command and control.

The wing previously flew the F-16C and F-16D Fighting Falcon, having transferred the last F-16C aircraft to the Arizona Air National Guard in November 2013. The wing's current inventory of aircraft includes 21 F-15Cs and F-15Ds and consists of 18 Primary Aircraft Authorized (PAA) and 3 Backup Aircraft Inventory (BAI). The wing also operates one C-26A transport.
