Fire Departments/Numbering Plan (eff. 3/2/15)

Effective March 2, 2015, All Calhoun County fire departments will switch to the following numbering system, to conform with MABAS standards:

The first part of the unit identifier signifies the type of apparatus;

*ENGINE/PUMPER (Used for attack purposes, may/may not have a large capacity tank)
*LADDER (Truck-mounted aerial)
*TOWER (Truck-mounted aerial w/ "bucket" on the end)
*TANKER (Used primarily for water supply purposes)
*BRUSH  (Used for brush/grass fires)
*SQUAD/RESCUE (Used for medical calls &/or heavy rescue, extrication, etc)
*MEDIC (Ambulance)
*UTILITY (Vehicle not meeting any of above criteria)

The next part of the unit identifier signifies the department;

*1 - Albion City
*2 - Athens Township
*3 - Battle Creek City
*4 - Albion Township
*5 - Bedford Township
*6 - Burlington Township
*7 - Emmett Township
*8 - Fredonia Township
*9 - Homer Township
*10 - Leroy Township
*11 - Marengo Township
*12 - Marshall City
*13 - Marshall Township
*14 - Newton Township
*15 - Pennfield Township
*16 - Sheridan Township
*17 - Springfield City
*18 - Tekonsha Township
*20 - Veterans Affairs Hospital (Battle Creek)

If a department has more than one of a particular type of apparatus, the last part of the unit identifier distinguishes the specific rig;

Engine 3-5 would be the engine from Battle Creek City's station 5.
Tanker 5-2 would be the tanker from Bedford Township station 2.
Engine 13-1, Engine 13-2, Engine 13-3, etc would be Marshall Township's engines. (They have 2 stations, but more than 2 engines)

Numbering for personnel will remain the same as the old system shown above.
(The lists will be consolidated after 3/2/15)
