Taylorville Fire Department is staffed 24 hours a day and responds to all medical, fire, and assistance calls. As of 2012, the department has upgraded from a BLS (basic life support) to ALS (advanced life support). With this advancement, the fire department now owns and operates their own ambulance only when the private ambulance services (Dunn & Sutton) are out of service or major incident should occur.
