The new Polk County P25 System connected with the Cobb Regional Radio System is expected to be in service by the last day of 2020. They are testing the microwave system in September, and testing the final configuration in the last week of October, or the first of November.

This new system will have a microwave link in Bartow county, so Polk County can communicate with the other counties on the radio system. This system is looking going to be simulcast and have at least 4 antennas, and put up a 5th if needed after testing.

The locations of the new 4 antennas will be:

  1. Polk County Water Authority Property (1341 Taylorsville Road, Taylorsville, GA) (34.075920, -85.042249)
  2. City of Rockmart's Water Tower, Self-Supporting Mono-pole (Same tower location as current Polk County System) (33.978459, -85.013682)
  3. Georgia/Alabama State Line, I have found a FCC Antenna Structure Registration for this location, 611 Rocky Hollow Rd, (34-04-40.4 N 085-24-30.8 W) (https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/AsrSearch/asrRegistration.jsp?regKey=2713612)
  4. Cedartown Tower (Beside Government Complex) - This tower is going to be at the exisiting tower site. (6.5 km east of Cedartown, just off Hwy. 278)

This system is going to be used by the counties EMS, Fire Department, Law Enforcement, School Police, Animal Control, School buses, and public works

In the coming months a lot more information will be released, I will submit info for the talk groups as they are programmed.
