There are at least four VHF high band simplex channels, 151.0250, 151.0550, 151.0850 and 156.1350, which are commonly used for short distance hand held and truck communications at construction areas, by flaggers directing traffic, snow removal and sanding, etc. These channels are licensed for use anywhere in the state. They can be analog NFM or P25 digtal with PL 100.0 and NAC 293 monitored. Channel designators monitored are TXDOT-1, TXDOT-2, TXDOT-3 and TXDOT-4 in analog NFM mode and TXDOT-5, TXDOT-6, TXDOT-7, TXDOT-8 in P25 digital mode.

These channels are licensed for use statewide and there may be other frequencies used in some areas (see license links at the bottom of this page). The channels used in a particular area or district may vary because there are TxDOT repeaters and other licensed users on these frequencies in some areas. In the past these have been CSQ (no tone) but in the past few years (since around 2010) PL tones and DPL codes have been observed in some areas.

District Maps

Statewide Simplex Talkaround Channels

The channels used in a particular area or district may vary because there may be TxDOT repeaters or other licensed users on these frequencies in various locations throughout the state.

Simplex talkaround on local TxDOT repeater outputs has also been noted in some areas.
