Obviously this breaks down when you have more than one kind of apparatus housed at a particular station. But things work out quite well for the most part.

Some of the communities to the extreme east of the county, namely Vermilion (City) FD & Florence Twp FD, seem more aligned with Lorain County for some reason, and do not participate in the Erie County system. Also, not much info is available at this time to determine if Kelleys Island FD & Cedar Point FD work into the Erie County system.
