Welcome to the FreeSCAN user guide. This document is designed to help the newcomer download, install and navigate. Its available here at the Freescan download website. It is designed to work with the Uniden DMA scanners. Note that Freescan will not work with the HP-1, HP-2, BCD436HP, BCD536HP, SDS100 or SDS200. The DMA structure these scanners use is different.

A modified version can be found here.

Getting Started

The following scanners are compatible with FreeSCAN:

SC230, BC246T, BR330T, UBC3500XLT, BCD396T, BCD996T, BCT15
BC346XT, BCD396XT, BCD996XT , BCT15X
BCD325P2, BCD996P2 (version 2.18 and greater)
UBCD996T,UBCD396T, UBCT15 - Programming available from version 1.07.06 firmware for these radios
- NOTE: FreeScan does not support DMR, MOTOTRBO or EDACS Provoice

Installing and executing FreeSCAN
- Freescan and Anti Virus Software
- Under Windows (2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7, Windows 10 Supported)
- Under LINUX (Version .7G and earlier)
- Software_Setup_For_Linux More up to date instructions

Pulldown Menus

From left to right, the graphics above represent the following;

New File
Open File
Save File
Print File
Create System
Create Site (trunking only)
Create Group
Cut
Copy
Paste
Upload to Scanner (Ctrl-U or select from the Scanner pulldown menu)
Download from Scanner (Ctrl-D or select from the Scanner pulldown menu)
Virtual Control (Shift+F1 or select from the Scanner pulldown menu)

- A paid subscription to RadioReference is required to use the following features:
  - RadioReference Conventional
  - RadioReference Trunked
