Gonzales County is one of the few counties where the county EMS runs the Rescue Division for the county. The Gonzales County EMS/Rescue does vehicle extraction, high angle, swift water, and confined spaces. Gonzales County EMS/Rescue has 1 big rescue truck known as Rescue 3. The truck has state of the art vehicle extraction equipment along with a 500 gallon water tank and fire hose. The Gonzales County Fire department does not do any vehicle extraction. Both the Gonzales County FD and the Rescue division of EMS  mainly rely on volunteers.
