The majority of stations in Guysborough County are dispatched by Canso Dispatch and Shubie Radio.
In addition to each station having their own VHF repeater, stations can also operate with each other and their dispatching provider through the Nova Scotia Integrated Mobile Radio System fire repeaters located at Cochrane Hill and Lundy (and possibly other repeaters), the NS Trunked Mobile Radio system (TMR-2) "east" talkgroups, and the provincial mutual aid VHF simplex frequency 153.83

Ambulance services are provided by Emergency Health Services (EHS). Communications are on the EHS "North 2" talkgroup on the NS Trunked Mobile Radio system (TMR-2).
