In 2018 Kentucky Utilities / Louisville Gas & Electric both a PPL Company started filing conventional & trunked UHF DMR licenses with the FCC. Since 2018, they have filed over 25 licenses and more than 90 frequency pairs. Tait Communications won the bid from KU/LG&E has since then has started building out the first 18 repeaters across the Commonwealth of Kentucky with the timeline of the first 18 to be completed by September 1st, 2020, with 18 additional to be completed by December 31st, 2020. In this attempt to migrate and move away from the P25 standard some field offices have already started using conventional DMR repeaters.

Region Radio Setup

Unlike most DMR systems Tier 3 uses what's known as Region ID. It appears that sites on this system correspond to their region via a number. The following is a matrix drawn out my system monitors.
North/Central Kentucky - Region ID 1
Western Kentucky - Region ID 7
