Knox (P25) TACN Radio ID Ranges

Knox County Radios are limited to affiliating with the Knox Simulcast TACN radio site for the most part. The only other Knox County talkgroup that Knox Radios will affiliate with is “KX-EM KNOX NET”. Radios operating on Karns Fire Talkgroups will affiliate with Windrock and Knox Simulcast radio sites.

Neyland Stadium Customer Service and Water Hydration Teams can also be heard on this frequency during games.
  • Knoxville Fire Department (KFD), Knox County Rescue (KCR), and American Medical Response (AMR) utilize the “KX-EM INOP3” talkgroup on TACN. UT Stadium Command, UT Emergency Operations Center (EOC), AMR/Rural Metro Communications at Knox 911, and Knox 911 monitors this talkgroups during games. The above-listed agencies primarily handle medical issues requiring response and treatment outside the stadium as well as Medical Transportation. UT First Aid Supervisors and UT First Aid Stations also have radios operating on this Talkgroup during the game. This talkgroup is clear.
  • Commissioned staff with University of Tennessee Police (UTPD), Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), Anderson County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), Blount County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), Loudon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), and Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) utilizes the “KX-UT INTEROP” talkgroup on TACN during football. Some non-commissioned staff from UTPD may also be on this channel during games such as CPS assigned to Capital Escort Duties. UT Stadium command, UT Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and UTPD Dispatch monitors this talkgroup during games. LE MUTAID 6 is also patched to this Talkgroup during football games since they still are in the process of programming the “KX-UT INTEROP” Talkgroup into radios. Federal Law Enforcement personnel may pop up on this channel during the game. Both of these talkgroups are in the clear.
  • Knoxville Police Department (KPD) Officers and Cadets utilize their own encrypted Special Event Talkgroups during Football Games. Starting with the 2022 Football Season, KPD will no longer be assigned to the Interior portion of the stadium. KPD Officers and Cadets will now be assigned primarily to traffic assignments on city roadways. Non-KPD Officers still handle traffic assignments on state and campus roadways.KPD has their own personnel monitoring their Special Events channels at the UT Emergency Operations Center and in the Neyland Stadium Command Post.
  • AMR also utilizes MED72 MCI during football. UT Stadium Command, UT Emergency Operations Center (EOC), University of Tennessee Medical Center’s MEDLINK Communications Center/Regional Medical Communications Center (RMCC), and AMR/Rural Metro Communications at Knox 911 monitors this frequency during football games.
  • UTK Athletics Event Management Staff, Emergency Management Staff, Facilities Services Staff, OIT Staff, Transit Services Staff, and Parking Services Staff utilizes the UTK Mototurbo Capacity Plus Trunking system for primary communications during the game. Some staff from these departments are in gameday command and monitor some of these talkgroups.
  • AXIS Security Event Staff utilizes a UHF Itinerant Frequency of 464.550 MHZ with a PL of 91.5 in simplex mode during football. Command monitors this frequency. Some AXIS Security Supervisors carry radios on the UTK Mototurbo Capacity Plus System on Athletics Event Management Talkgroups.
  • UT Event Medical Staff and American Red Cross First Aid Station Teams (FAST) utilize a repeater on 463.3625 MHZ that is located on top of Laurel Hall. However, full-time encryption is in use on this frequency. UT First Aid Medical Staff handle most medical issues within the Stadium. UT Event Medical Teams handle medical calls on the interior portion of the stadium. AMR, KCR, and KFD Medical Staff may also assist on some calls on the interior portion of the stadium but they primarily enter the Stadium to assist UT Event Medical with transporting the patient out of the stadium..

UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE - THOMPSON BOLING ARENA EVENTS//BASKETBALL GAMES

  • Commissioned staff with UTPD, KCSO, and BCSO working TBA Events will utilize the “KX-UT INTEROP” talkgroup on TACN. TBA Command and UTPD Dispatch monitors this talkgroup during special events. This talkgroup is clear.KPD Officers do not typically work events at Thompson Boling Arena. However, if they do they would utilize their encrypted special events talkgroups.
  • UTPD non-commissioned staff known as CSO and CPS utilize “UTPD BRICK 1” during TBA Events. It is a UHF frequency of 453.725 MHz with a DPL of 226 and it operates in repeater mode. TBA Command and UTPD Dispatch monitors this repeater during TBA Events. UTPD non-commissioned staff do not always work events at TBA. UTPD BRICK 1 is usually patched with "KX-UT INTEROP" during events at TBA.
  • Transit Services utilizes Transit Channel 2 (Talkgroup 92) for Special Events at Thompson Boling Arena. Regular Campus Transit Operations still occur on Transit Channel 1 (Talkgroup 90)during these special events. Transit Channel 3 (Talkgroup 91) is used for talkaround during Special Events Operations.
  • Thompson Boling Arena Event Medical Staff utilizes the Athletics Event Management (6X Series) set of talkgroups on the UTK Mototurbo Capacity Plus UHF Trunking System during Special Events at TBA.

Pellissippi State Community College Police (PSPD)

Pellissippi State Community College employs POST Certified Law Enforcement Officers including 1 Chief of Police, 1 Deputy Chief of Police,3 Police Sergeants, 3 Police Corporals, 7 Full-Time Police Officers, and 1 Part-Time Police Officer. Pellissippi State also employs unarmed contract security officers. Pellissippi State Community College is comprised of five campuses and has a law enforcement and security presence at every campus the level of personnel at the location at the time depends on a variety of factors. PSPD operates on the Tennessee Advanced Communications Network (TACN) for primary communications for the law enforcement operations. Pellissippi State Contract Security operates on UHF repeaters and simplex.

Knox County Fire Bureau

The Knox County Fire Bureau missions include: life safety inspections of existing structures and new construction, developing proactive and diverse public education programs and maintaining an aggressive fire investigation program. Fire Bureau Units use various Knox County Channels using “FM XX” callsigns.

Karns Fire Department

The Karns Fire Department serves an area of 65 square miles in Northwest Knox County. Karns, an ISO Class 4 department (for the entire area), has four fire stations strategically located in the Karns, Ball Camp, Hardin Valley and Solway communities. The Headquarters facility, where the department’s business affairs are managed, is located off Oak Ridge Highway in the Karns community. The department provides fire protection, Advance Life Support (ALS), hazardous materials response, vehicle extrication, an assortment of technical rescue services, and public education for over 40,000 residents. Also, serves 9 Public Schools in their response area. They are known as a combination department. Two station are operated 24 Hours with at least two payed department members on board the apparatus.

Seymour Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD)

The department serves over 20,000 homes (32,000 people), 400 business, 70 churches, 2 private schools, 8 public schools and Johnson University (with 400+ on-campus residents). Their Fire District is spread across three Tennessee counties, Blount, Knox, and Sevier with a total response area of approximately 118.6 square miles. SVFD primarily operates on vhf analog for most operations but Seymour also operates on simplex uhf tac channels to communicate with Sevier County agencies on scene and on a Knox TACN talk groups for talkaround communications.

Knox County School Security Division (KCSD)

As special deputies with the Knox County Sheriff's Office (KCSO), the division is the primary force protection unit for Knox County Schools charged with the security and safety of staff and students within the district. Also known as the Knox County School Security Division, members are often referred to as SRO's or School Resource Officers. Responsibilities of the Division include: A. Preserve order on school property, in the vicinity of schools where there is a direct correlation to school activity or property, school buses, and at any school sponsored or related activity, and in any place where the School District owns property or has a direct interest.B. Protect pedestrians and vehicles commuting to and from school. C. Prevent, deter, and reduce acts of crime against school students, personnel, related individuals, and property. D. Investigate school-related incidents and other matters of District interest. E. Maintain peace at all school-related events. F. Apprehend offenders. G. Recover stolen property. H. Other activity as directed by the School Board or the Chief. The Division consists of the following bureau's: Office of the Chief, Support Services, Operations, Transportation Safety, and Investigations. The Operations Bureau is overseen by the Operations Major who is assisted by a Lieutenant and nine district sergeants. The Operations Bureau also houses the School Patrol Unit and Bike Patrol Unit. The Transportation Bureau is overseen by the Transportation Safety Sergeant who is assisted by two Check Ride Safety Officers. The Transportation Safety Bureau focuses relating to compliance of safety mandates issued by the Knox County Schools Transportation Department, federal, state, and local laws. The Transportation Safety Bureau also responds to school bus accidents involving children. All School Security Officers with the Knox County Schools Security Division are Bonded Special Deputies with the Knox County Sheriff's Office and have the authority to detain, make arrests, and carry a firearm (pertaining to school matters). All Division owned vehicles are considered Emergency Vehicles. Division Vehicles are equipped with emergency lights and emergency siren equipment.
