The Bus simplex is used when the buses go out of area, such as field trips. The F1 & F5 repeaters are at the O'Plaine campus. The F-7 & F9 are at the Almond campus. C= Campus Usage. Key: A= Almond Campus Usage O= O'plaine Campus Usage. B= Both campus Usage UPDATE -- Summer 2007 - Some repeaters are to be moved and housed on the Gurnee Police Radio Communications Tower. Radios Used: Kenwood TK-3160 and TK-3101, Motorola P1225 and Visar. Mobile Radios Used: Motorola Radius CM300, Motorola Maxtrac and GM300, Motorola Radius M1225 Repeaters are GR300 (F5), GR1225 (F7/F9) and Radius R100 (F1).

In Lake County, FD radio identifiers are generally based on the following numbers:

  • 00-09 = Chief, then officers in descending rank
  • 10-19 = Primary Engines
  • 20-29 = Secondary Engines
  • 30-39 = Aerial Devices
  • 40-49 = Ambulances
  • 50-59 = Squads (heavy rescues)
  • 60-69 = Tankers
  • 70-79 = Brush Trucks
  • 80-89 = Inspectors
  • 90-99 = Pool Vehicles ("Buggies" ie Chief's cars, and pickup trucks, inspector's vans, etc.)

  • 1 = Abbott Labs Fire Brigade (ABBT) - Sep. Freq.- not true MABAS members due to being private company, used for hazmat techs and foam.

(Great Lakes used to use GLFD, but after they were mistakenly dispatched instead of a tanker from Grayslake (GFPD) to a fire on Christmas in Vernon Hills back in 1993, the county chiefs changed the ID's. Now Grayslake is GRLK)
