Fire/EMS departments in Licking County have moved almost entirely to plain language, although some remnants of [[Buckeye State Sheriffs Association (BSSA) (OH)|BSSA]] codes and signals remain, such as 33 (en route), 37 (on the scene), 13 (non-emergency response), 27 (emergency response), and 16 (death). Also, the Newark Fire Department occasionally still uses "10-22," their former code for the police department, and "10-33," which indicates an emergency response (with lights and sirens), primarily when transporting to the hospital.
