What to Listen For on this System

Bay Minette

The Bay Minette Police Department is not encrypted and if your receiver is properly decoding the NXDN signal, the unit ID will display the assigned officer or vehicle rather than merely a numerical value. The department has its own dispatcher.

Baldwin County

The Baldwin County 911 Dispatch Center (Baldwin Central) may be heard on this system dispatching EMS and fire service via at least five talkgroups: North; East; South; West; and, Central.

The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office may also be heard in the clear on at least two talkgroups: BC Law (TGID 1401) and Dispatch Patch (TGID 1176). Radio calls to "Station 5" are to the Sheriff's Office dispatcher.

Significantly, all of the Baldwin County talkgroups on this system are also simulcast on the Alabama Interoperable Radio System (AIRS) and/or VHF frequencies.

Daphne

The Daphne Police Department is encrypted on their operational channels and will only be heard on the unencrypted "BC Law" talkgroup (TGID 1401). Your receiver may hold on an encrypted channel confirming its use but no audio signal will be heard. An unencrypted talkgroup (TGID 263) is in use by school crossing guards who are employed by the police department. The department has is own dispatcher and jail.

The Daphne Fire Department (Station 66) is active on this system as well as on a patch to the Alabama First Responder Network system. They will frequently be dispatched as a first responder for MedStar ambulances. The department is dispatched by Baldwin County 911 (Baldwin Central)

The Daphne Public Works Department is active on three talkgroups on this system and may be heard in the clear on TGIDs 327, 328, and 335.

Foley

The Foley Police Department is encrypted on their operational channels but may be heard on the unencrypted "BC Law" talkgroup (TGID 1401) as well as a special events talkgroup (TGID 125). Your receiver may hold on an encrypted channel confirming its use but no audio signal will be heard. The department has is own dispatcher and jail.

The Foley Fire Department (Station 30) is active on this system as well as a patch on the Alabama First Responder Network and their VHF High Band frequency (155.5800). They will frequently be dispatched as a first responder for MedStar ambulances and, as a well-equipped and staffed department, are routinely assigned on mutual aid calls for the neighboring volunteer departments.

Robertsdale

The Robertsdale Police Department is not encrypted and if your receiver is properly decoding the NXDN signal, the unit ID will display the assigned officer or vehicle rather than merely a numerical value. The department is regularly dispatched calls by Baldwin County 911 (Baldwin Central or, simply, Central) and they have their own jail.

Others

As with other trunked systems, when radios affiliate with various sites other traffic may be heard. Listen for fire department dispatching by Baldwin County 911 on geographic channels North, East, South, West, or Central. Additionally, AirCare Ops has been heard on this system.

Unidentified Talkgroup IDs

If your scanner has the capability to search for new talkgroups, this system occasionally sees new ones which have yet to be confirmed or fully identified. As of this update, some of the unidentified TGIDs are: 262; 1403; 1408; and, 1602.
