Codes/Units/Station Lists/FTO's/Maps

Loudoun uses the Metro Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG or COG) unit numbering system, with some modifications.

Unit designators are of the form ttjnn or tjnnn

where: tt - is the one or two-letter unit type (A = Ambulance, E = Engine, etc.)
j - is a digit representing the jurisdiction
nn - is a two or three-digit unit number, usually the station number. Ambulances use three-digit numbers (this is one variation from the COG system).

The jurisdiction numbers are:

  • 0 = Washington DC
  • 1 = Arlington, VA
  • 2 = Alexandria, VA
  • 3 = MWAA (airports)
  • 4 = Fairfax County, VA
  • 5 = Prince William County, VA
  • 6 = Loudoun County
  • 7 = Montgomery County, MD
  • 8 = Prince George's County, MD
  • 9 = Frederick County, MD
  • 10 = reserved
  • 11 = Fauquier County, VA
  • 12 = Culpeper County, VA

Examples:

A6141 - The first ambulance out of station 14.
 E611 - Engine 11
 RE606 - Reserve Engine 6
