Revision as of 23:51, 27 June 2012

The San Antonio Urban Area Initiative Wide Area Communications Network began coming online in Central Texas in January 2010. This is suspected as the LCRA 700MHz Overlay, to complete an interoperability project between many P25 trunked radio systems throughout Texas.

On June 2, 2010, cross-band testing was being conducted between talkgroup 1001 of this system and LCRA 900MHz EDACS talkgroup 321- LCRA East Comm- on Sites 101 and 102, suspected to be in Austin and Hays County respectively. Voice traffic has also been confirmed on Sites 103 and 105 as of June 15th, 2010.

On December 21, 2010, confirmed several sites that match LCRA existing sites. Confident that this is the LCRA 700MHz overlay, 13 sites have been reported, the same that LCRA claims to be completed in the Texas SCIP Implementation report dated July 2009 found here on page 14.

Site neighbors indicate east of Austin along 290 or 71 Weak signal from Austin, Caldwell County and Smithville, Signal lost further south/west from above locations.

Traveled Hwy 45 and 130, strong signal on 45 from IH 35 to 130, signal fades in and out south along 130 to FM 969, this picks up strong again to Hwy 71. Need someone in the Elgin area for a signal report.
