Flight for Life Colorado

Established in 1972, Flight for Life Colorado was the first hospital-based air ambulance program in the United States. Part of the Centura Health Network and based out of St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Flight for Life serves the entire Rocky Mountain Region with fixed wing, rotor wing, and ground based equipment. Rotor wing equipment is leased from Air Methods, Inc. while fixed wing aircraft is leased from and operated by Mayo Aviation based out of the Centennial Airport.

Flight for Life Colorado is dispatched by the St. Anthony Communications Center located at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood. Calls are dispatched by Nextel and alphanumeric pager.

Helicopters

Since this is a larger operation it's not uncommon to shuffle aircraft around as needed during special events, and maintenance.
The Lifeguard call sign stays with the location, but the tail number may vary depending on which ship is in service at that location.
i.e. LG3 will almost always be the St. Francis aircraft, even though they may be flying the N392LG aircraft

Recent research 2/2021 indicates that there are several aircraft changes in the past year.
Specific assignments listed below may be incorrect

  • Lifeguard 1 (N391LG) - St. Anthony Hospital (Lakewood, Colorado)
  • ? LG1? (N491LG) seen in the Denver metro area with FFL paint scheme
  • Lifeguard 2 (N399LG) - Summit Medical Center (Frisco, Colorado)
  • Lifeguard 3 (N397LG) - St. Francis Medical Center (Colorado Springs, Colorado)
  • Lifeguard 4 (N394LG) - St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center (Pueblo, Colorado)
  • Lifeguard 5 (N496LG) - Mercy Regional Medical Center (Durango, Colorado) -- new tail number in 2020 old ship is flying in AK
  • Lifeguard 8 - callsign used during special events
  • N127LG - Was Lifeguard 6 and dedicated to Children's Hospital, unknown status
  • N390LG - Was Lifeguard 2, lost in crash 2015
  • N392LG - Was Lifeguard 2, replaced by N390LG and then N399LG, currently used as the primary fill in - seems to be kept at St Francis
  • N350MV - Helicopter used as a secondary fill in

Fixed Wing Aircraft

  • 312LG (N312LG) - Centennial Airport, LearJet 35 (Englewood, Colorado) (Was N222BE)
  • 217LG (N217LG) - Centennial Airport, KingAir/B200 (Englewood, Colorado)
  • 211LG (N211LG) - Durango-La Plata County Airport, KingAir/B200 (Durango, Colorado)
