Messages between communicators and pilots are relayed over a frame relay system. When a communicator speaks to a pilot over the radio, the message is sent to computer routers located on transmission towers throughout Air Evac's service areas. The routers convert the radio waves into data bits that can be transmitted faster and more accurately over the long distance.
