Efforts are underway by 18 fire districts and departments in Macon, DeWitt and Piatt counties to obtain a $600,000 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for new digital radios and pagers.
2/09 - Area fire departments receive FEMA grants --NIANTIC - The Niantic Fire Protection District has received a $503,397 Assistance to Firefighters Grant which will be used to upgrade communications equipment among 24 fire departments in DeWitt, Macon, Moultrie and Piatt counties. Aug 2007, Findlay Fire Dept. erected a new much taller antenna tower, in which you can pick up transmissions on 151.4 MHz just about anywhere within a 30-mile radius from Findlay.
Moultrie County Dispatch serves Findlay, Dalton City (Dora), Bethany, Lovington, and Sullivan Fire and Rescue. All page-outs and other broadcasts may be heard on 151.4 MHz.
All Fire Departments (except Arthur) now appear to be dispatched on the Sullivan FPD repeater system. 154.43 may be used as a back-up or fireground, not sure at this time.
