  • Most Fire Districts will identify themselves in plain English using their name, then apparatus type, then pecking order. For example, the first wildland fire unit from Stockton would identify as "Stockton Brush 1." Others are migrating to a new numbering system based on their relative proximity to the county seat, Stevens Point. Using this new system, the fourth paramedic unit from Stevens Point would identify as "51-M-4."
