System Notes

Location

Quartzite Mountain, North of Victorville, CA

Description

Used by County departments as well as non-county public providers such as contracting fire departments. Some talkgroups are "patched" to other systems via the consoles in dispatch. This leads to some duplication among the various systems. For example, Fire dispatch patches 1-Fire-1, 8-Fire-2, Trona and Baker conventional systems together on a normal basis to create a larger "North Desert / Cajon Pass" system. Additionally, the "city areas" talkgroup 1-Fire-3 is being patched to 6-FIRE-5 to allow Chief officers in the valley areas and San Bernardino HQ respond to and monitor calls in the High Desert.

FGND (fireground) channels are not normally patched and are stand-alone. Some SB County VHF channels might be patched in on a temporary basis to allow non-800mhz agencies to operate jointly without borrowing radios. This is a simulcast system from Quartzite Mtn in Victorville, Rodman Mtn N. of Lucerne Valley, and Flash II Mtn N. of Barstow.
