Code N

Code N signifies an event as a newsworthy event.

The following are considered newsworthy:

  • Any citizen or firefighter with serious burns or loss of life
  • A structure fire with loss showing greater than $30k
  • Any type of multiple alarm fire
  • An accident where rescue with extrication is needed
  • Cliff or river rescues
  • A vehicle into a structure, with injuries
  • Any wildland or grass fire where structures are threatened
  • A wildland fire greater than 15 acres
  • A water vessel or aircraft with flames or large amounts of smoke showing
  • Any aircraft crash
  • A large vehicle fully involved
  • When a large group of vehicles is on fire
  • When a large amount of hazardous material is found
  • Evacuation or road closure due to hazardous materials
  • When MAST (Metro Arson Strike Team) requests a Code N

Code H

Code H signifies any event involving human interest not classified as Code N.

This would include the following:

  • A story involving the community
  • An event that would promote public relations with the community or media
