San Joaquin County Scanner Information

From N5FDL:

The big things that are happening in the county is the gradual shift to P25 for law enforcement agencies (on UHF) and the move by fire agencies to narrowband VHF frequencies. There has long been a plan to move all public safety agencies in the county to UHF, but that does not seem to be moving forward very quickly.

At this writing (4/20/09), the fire frequencies are not changing at the rate they were a year ago. Yes, there is a Control 3, but the frequency and tone are likely to change. One thing you may not have noticed with SJ fire channels: The odd-numbered channels are north county and the even-numbered channels are south county.

San Joaquin County EMS

AMR is the contract EMS company for most of San Joaquin County.

AMR Stockton is dispatched on the company's UHF frequencies.

AMR Lodi is dispatched on Control 1 (See County Fire).

AMR Tracy (40's series)is dispatched on Control 2.

Manteca District Ambulance (50's units) is the ambulance provider for Manteca and Lathrop, and is dispatched on Control 1.

Ripon Fire operates its own ambulances, also on Control 1.

Escalon Ambulance provides EMS coverage in that community, also on Control 1.

San Joaquin County Hospitals

What may not be obvious is that the hospital/ambulance radio system, on the Med channels, is duplex. There are no repeaters and, as a result, the mobiles can be difficult to hear.

San Joaquin General, as the base hospital, has two remote receiver locations, that supposedly allow it to hear units calling countywide.
